Set discreetly behind stone walls along storied Old Beach Road, The Belair Carriage House is an extraordinary oasis, and one of Newport's most captivating architectural survivors of the Gilded Age. Originally part of the historic Belair estate, Newport pioneer and industrialist George H. Norman gave innovative architect Dudley Newton carte blanche to design a stable. The result is this fairytale castle in Flemish Renaissance Revival style, celebrated to this day as among the most architecturally significant carriage houses in Newport. It's been re-imagined as a single family, using period-appropriate architectural antiques, rounded out by all the modern conveniences. The Belair Carriage House remains a rare anomaly an intact and deeply charactered estate building - offering both privacy and provenance within walking-distance from Newport's bustling harbor, beaches, and Bellevue Avenue. This is a premiere offering to select tenants for a minimum of a 30-day period. This 6,000-square-foot residence is a triumph of design, with a stunning chef's kitchen, up to 5 bedrooms, billiard room, two living rooms, and home office, all in the comfort of modern AC. The backyard is a private retreat reminiscent of a Roman grotto, offering a hot tub, fire pit, outdoor grill, outdoor dining area, and an outdoor shower. Whether you are enjoying a quiet evening under the stars, or a cup of morning coffee on the deck, this space is unmatched for those seeking tranquility.
